We invite book and magazine professionals from around the world –especially those from Latin America and the Global South– to join our transnational network. The fellowship provides practical support to help you participate in READ and amplify your critical voice on the global stage.
🌍 What is the READ Fellowship Program?
With the aim of facilitating the participation of publishing projects, magazines and platforms for critical thinking, we are launching the READ Fellowship Programme, an initiative aimed at supporting the presence of diverse voices, with special attention to publishers from the Global South. The programme includes two types of grant: a travel grant to cover all or part of the travel costs, and a grant for accommodation during the days of the meeting. It is possible to apply for one or both modalities, depending on the needs of the project. We recommend, however, to apply only for what is really needed, in order to broaden the scope of the call and support as many participants as possible.
All magazines, publishing houses and cultural projects that understand publishing as a tool for intervention and transformation, committed to critical thinking and the production of discourses that question the established order, are eligible to apply.
Types of grants?
- Travel grant: we have 90 grants for total or partial support for travel.
- Accommodation grant: we have 50 places reserved in a hostel for the nights of 17–19 September, including breakfast.
✈️ What does the travel grant cover?
The specific amount allocated to each application will be determined taking into account aspects such as geographical distance, the economic context of the project and the relevance or trajectory of the initiative. The aim is that each grant is adjusted to the real needs of those who participate, thus ensuring a supportive and efficient distribution of resources.
Lower grants will primarily be allocated to participants based within the territory, while higher amounts will be reserved for those coming from farther away or facing greater economic challenges.
🏨 What does the accommodation grant cover?
The accommodation grant includes a place in a shared room in a hostel in Barcelona for the three nights of the meeting (17-20 September 2025).
In total, 50 places will be offered, aimed at 50 selected publishers. This option aims to guarantee a comfortable and accessible stay, favouring the meeting between participants and reinforcing the collective spirit of READ. The value of this support is estimated at €180.
🎯 Selection Criteria:
- Geographical distance
- Relevance, trajectory, and potential impacts
📌 Some conditions
- Rooms will be shared and single-gender.
- Choosing a travel grant does not exclude the possibility of being offered accommodation, as long as space is available and it fits the applicant’s profile.
- Only one person per organization will be funded, in order to ensure the widest possible participation. If all 90 fellowships are not assigned, the remaining funds will be redistributed equitably among selected participants.
- Travel support will be paid as a participation fee for the event.
🗓️ Key dates
- Call opens: 10/06/2025
- Call closes: 02/07/2025 [COMPLETED]

✏️ Commitments of Selected Participants
